August Global crude steel production fell by 3%
World Steel Association (worldsteel) statistics show that in August 2015 the world's crude steel production in 65 major steel-producing countries and regions of 132 million tons, down 3%.
August crude steel production in the 28-nation EU to 12.15 million tons, an increase of 0.1%; CIS crude steel output was 8.59 million tons, down 1 percent; North America, crude steel output was 9.72 million tons, down 8.3%; South America crude steel output was 3.78 million tons, down 1.9%; Asian crude steel production was 91.49 million tons, down 2.9%. Middle East production 2.16 million tons, down 3.9%; Africa production was 1.17 million tons, down 5.5%.
The statistics also show that in 1--8 months, the world's 65 major steel-producing countries and regions in crude steel production of 10.8 million tons, down 2.3%. 1--8 months, the 28-nation EU crude steel production was 114 million tons, an increase of 0.2%; CIS crude steel production was 67.78 million tons, down 6.5 percent; North America, crude steel production was 75.52 million tons, down 6.9% year on year ; South American crude steel production was 29.85 million tons, down 0.6%; Asian crude steel production was 735 million tons, down 1.9%; Middle East production 18.7 million tons, up 1.8 percent; African production was 9.67 million tons, down 2.2 %.
August crude steel production in China is 66.94 million tons, down 3.5%. After deduction of China, global crude steel production in August was 65.4 million tons, down 2.6%. August global steel capacity utilization was 68%, down 0.4 percentage points compared with July, down 3.6 percentage points compared with last August.
August average daily global crude steel production was 4.27 million tons, a decline of 0.4%. September global steel market remain weak, vulnerable to run the Asian market, steel operating rates rose slightly, the European market remains weak, mills operating rate remained stable, the US market remains weak, mills operating rate declined slightly. Overall judgment is expected in September average daily global crude steel production will decline slightly qoq.
