January-August imports of Chinese steel products in Latin America increased by 5%
According to the latest data of Latin American Steel Association (Alacero) released data show that in August this year, Latin America, China imported a total of 5.7 million tons of finished steel products, an increase of 5%.
Judging from imported varieties, from January to August total Latin American imports of Chinese flat steel 3.4 million tons, nearly 60 percent of total imports, mainly alloy hot-rolled coil, hot galvanized plate and cold roll; imported Chinese longs 2 million tons, wire rod and rebar majority.
Judging from the import destination, Brazil, Central America and Chile is still the main destination for Chinese resource imports, imports were 961,000 tons, 928,000 tons and 793,000 tons, respectively, an increase of 17%, 16% and 14 %. Meanwhile, imports of the fastest growing countries are Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico, respectively, an increase of 373%, 173%, 97% and 60%, imports fell significantly in the country is Brazil, Peru, Colombia and Chile, were down 32%, 17%, 12% and 3%.
