Factors to affects Steel Hardness

1. hardened resistance: refers to martensite hardening steel under normal conditions to exceed the critical quenching speed of the cooling of the formed the highest attainable hardness. It is mainly concerned with the carbon content of steel. Rather, it depends on when quenching the solid solution in austenite carbon content.
This illustrates one theoretical steel after quenching hardness can be achieved, as far as I know, the content of alloying elements only affect the hardenability, does not affect the hardenability.
2. The actual hardness of steel: actual hardness of steel factors too much, workpiece size, alloy composition, process (quenching temperature, cooling, tempering temperature, etc.) affect the actual hardness of steel.
